Melanie Tierce is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and worship leader from Murrieta, California. She is currently a student at Azusa Pacific University
earning a degree in Music and Worship with an emphasis in Biblical Studies.
From a young age she was always a natural entertainer and at age 10 she performed in her first musical. Over the next six years she performed in more than 40 musical productions, including both community and professional theater. During this time Melanie’s voice developed and was strengthened along with her passion for storytelling and dance.
At age 15, her path began to shift as she became involved with her church’s worship team. In a different vein than performing, for the first time in her life, she began to fall in love with the sound of a multitude of voices singing one song. Around this time Melanie began teaching herself guitar and started writing songs.
Since that time Melanie has been developing as a worship leader and songwriter through a variety of opportunities. Before attending college, she took part in a year-long internship at Centerpoint Church in Murrieta, CA. During this time, she was a co-writer and lead vocalist on their worship album Living Waters. She was also a finalist at the Gospel Music Association’s Immerse conference in the artist/writer and vocalist categories in 2012 and 2013.
Melanie spent a summer at the Pasadena House of Prayer growing in her passion for the presence of God, and currently leads worship at Azusa Pacific University and Centerpoint Church. Melanie is a member of the People and Songs community under the leadership of Jennie Lee Riddle, with whom she participates in writer’s retreats, conferences, and The Emerging Sound songwriting camp for teens. Most recently, Melanie auditioned for the farewell season of American Idol.
